"Dublin in Brass" (1935) Smith, Rogers & Eddie Routine
For high quality, click link above view count.
A short slapstick comedy routine from the virtually forgotten Vaudeville team of Smith, Rogers & Eddie in the 1935 musical comedy short "Dublin in Brass". This team had an unusual gimmick in that the "straight man" was an attractive young lady who took part in the physical humor. This clip might possibly be the team's only existing appearance on film. (please let me know if you have differing or additional information)
In this clip, the St. Patrick's Day parade in NYC has just passed, and these jokers take advantage of the pre-existing audience and jump into the street for a quick slapstick routine.
Most of the short film "Dublin in Brass" is a ...

"Striper Time" (1956)

For high quality, click link above view count. Honestly, I have no interest in fishing. I found this short film on my DVR because it was slipped in after some movie I recorded on TCM. I noticed that it did not have an entry in the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), so I submitted it. I uploaded the short film as supporting evidence of it's existence, it's onscreen credits, and the fact that it pla...

This segment is a tribute to stuntwomen in general and Mary Wiggins in particular. Veteran stuntman Harvey Parry also appears here. As the narrator points out, Mary is rather cute. She doubled for a number of attractive leadi...
"Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans" (1927) Peasant Dance Scene

For high quality, click link above view count. One of the lighter moments in the very emotional silent classic from F.W. Murnau. The city slickers goad the simple farm couple (George O'Brien & Janet Gaynor) into performing the Peasant Dance. Meanwhile, an attentive gentleman assists a young lady with her dress straps, which don't want to stay up.
"A Day at the Races" (1937) Groucho Marx Dance Scene

For high quality, click link above view count. My favorite scene from the film "A Day at the Races" (1937), a classic Marx Brothers musical comedy. Watch as Dr. Hugo Hackenbush (Groucho Marx) juggles two women on the dance floor. One is his older wealthy girlfriend (Margaret Dumont), and the other is a devious younger blonde (Esther Muir) who has caught his eye. An entertaining mixture of a com...

On 7-30-2023, I was fortunate to meet the nephew of Smith and Rogers! He was a young boy when he found out that his aunt and uncle were in show business once upon a time! He also told me the time they were rehearsing before a matinee vaudeville show, and after going through their routine, they heard a solitary clapping sound. The man that it belonged to: James Cagney! He introduced himself, and gave them some tips and pointers that might improve their act. After that, they became lifelong friends! This is straight from Bob Perry of Marshfield Hills, MA!

Without question, the premier female tap dancer. If you get a chance, catch her in Broadway Melody of 1940, the end has a Begin the Beguine routine with Astaire that may be the best dance routine ever put on film. The guy dancing with her at 1:08 is George Murphy.....also in the above movie.

Why did you BUTCHER the aspect ratio?? Eleanor Powell did NOT make 16x9 movies! Her movies were in the Academy Ratio. You've mangled the appearance so that she appears horizontally stretched. Other people get their EP videos RIGHT. You should too.

Please! Can someone please help me locate the original uncut version of "Spills for Thrills"? The original 1940 movie had a small clip from a silent movie made in Parlin, NJ in 1912, including a train wreck of the Raritan River Railroad hitting a car at the intersection near DuPont. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
